My Birthday

My day started with about 15 birthday greetings on Facebook which reminded my husband that it was in fact my birthday (not 2 days away). Then, just before noon, a package arrived! Sheri's Berries! (it was an anonymous gift but I figured out who it was) Guess what I had for lunch? Heehee! Just kidding, I have grown up a little bit, I only had 1 (and a half) and shared some with my family :o)
My lovely family took me to Longhorn for dinner last night. Mmmm, I love Filet Mignon! I had to send it back, twice, but in the end it was worth it! I shared half with Paris who has very expensive taste, too. Her steak also should have been sent back.
Our waiter was a real gem, we stayed almost till closing talking to him. He told us stories from when he grew up in Jamaica. He started working at 10 so he could go to school! He told our kids they should think themselves lucky, he never ate in a restaurant until he was 19 years old. My kids' eyes were the size of meatballs when he said that, LOL!
After we left Longhorn I wanted to go walk around. We went to the beach and walked out on the pier. Oh it was so beautiful! Paris was a little nervous, she thought we were going to fall through. Daddy walked with her holding her hand. The drive home was a quiet one. All the kids fell asleep in the car soon after we started driving.
When we got home Jacob carried Jakey into the house and set him down to use the bathroom. As I was going around the house turning off lights, maybe a half hour later, I wondered to myself  'why is the bathroom light still on?' I opened the door and found this...
Yes, it is what it looks like. He's asleep on the counter in the bathroom!!! LOL!!! The boy must have been tuckered out. I really hope he used the bathroom first!
I was a pretty good day.

Thank You Beth!!!

Have I ever mentioned that i love  L O V E  tulips? Well, I do, I love them and every time I see Tulips I think of my grandmother. She had a plethora of tulips in a myriad of colors.
Below are picture I took of some tulips my very best friend bought for me. She knows me so well! Some are a little blurry, I was standing with one foot on a kids size chair and the other on an amp. I think pictures of me taking pictures would have been pretty funny.

Happy Birthday Little Guy

Six years ago I packed our 3 kids into our little station wagon. I squeezed myself into the passenger side and my husband took the driver's position. We dropped those three sweet little people off at my friend's house and drove away, after a bunch of hugs and kisses. This was the last time we would be a family of five.
We were on our way to the hospital to meet our newest member who was growing rapidly in my belly. My doctor stressed that the baby had grown to large for me to deliver naturally. I trust my doctor, so we decided that a C-section was the best option. I was sad but it was the best decision.
Anyway, on the way to the hospital our little teal station wagon broke down. Maybe it was the added stress of my colossal belly. I was trying to stay calm, I had been laboring for a few days and I really didn't want to deliver in the car.
We drive at a snail's pace to the hospital and made it with time to spare. Thankfully we planned on getting there extra early. I was hooked up to all the wires and tubes and by early afternoon I was meeting my baby boy, all 9 pounds 15 ounces of him!! I'm so thankful he was a part of our family now and I was so thankful I had a C-section!! Yikes!
Nothing else happened, everything was good. The car was fixed, my baby was healthy and my kids looked enormous, I think they grew at least 3 inches while I was in the hospital. I even got to go home Saturday night, before Easter.
Happy Birthday to my sweet little guy!! <3 You have helped to make these past 6 years a joy.

Big Moon Rise'n

My family and I went out to see the big moon rise tonight. We went to the beach and it was PACKED!!! It was really fun to be out there with so many people who wanted to see the it. I think I even heard cheering when it peeked above the horizon at 7:44 PM. The following pictures are from our evening at the beach.

I like the way the light is  s t r e t c h i n g  over the little sand hills.

Last rays of sunlight.

The moon was just peeking out of the water. I can't even believe I was able to get a picture of it with my camera! My lens was set at 55mm.

I don't think the pictures do the moon justice, it was so beautiful.

She holds the moon

I can't believe how bright this looks, it was really dark out.

Today is one of those days

I love writing little stories about how perfect my family is and how well behaved my children are (LOL, are you LOL, too)  and about how thankful I am for everything BUT today is just one of those days.
Two kids are in the kitchen playing, I mean doing the dishes. One of them is 5 and needs the 11 year old to look after him so he actually does the work. The 11 y/o leaves the kitchen to wrestle with the other 11 y/o while the 5 y/o swings a mixing spoon in the air like a sword.
"What are you doing" I hear you asking me. I'm sitting with the 9 y/o trying to get her to do her school work. She's protesting.
I shout for the 11 y/o to get back into the kitchen and the 5 y/o to do his job. I tell the other 11 y/o to find something to do other then walk around the house snapping his fingers and the 9 y/o to get back to work.
"Get out of the kitchen and stop distracting you brothers" I tell that other 11 y/o who was snapping.
The 9 y/o sneezes and sneezes a couple more times, I tell her to go wash her hands. I turn around and she is messing with her brothers in the kitchen. "Get out of the kitchen and wash your hands in the bathroom" I calmly say to her. Right. I shout and scream and jump up and down like a monkey. (OK, not that bad, but I felt like it)
While waiting for the 9 y/o to come back from washing hands I hear guitar strums and paper rustling and another bang against the wall. "Get out here and finish your school" I say to one child.
"Is the counter cleared off and the floor swept?" I say to a couple more children.
The last child is doing what he should be doing so I don't have to say anything to him, for now, woohoo!!
Great, I lost the 9 y/o again. She said she was going to the bathroom but somehow ended up back in her brothers' room. "Did you finish your page yet" I ask
  Her-  "No"
  Me-  "You need to finish"
Her-  "Your the meanest mom ever"
  Me-  "I don't have a trophy"
Her-  "You didn't enter any stupid contest"
  Me-   "I'll look for one."
Sigh, it's only 10:30. I really hope the day gets better.
(Update, 10:32: she pickes up her school book and is doing her work!! )
